Bored projects, when you really have nothing to do
So the idea of increasing efficiency is always a fine line....and you get to a point when you eventually have to say no and stop doing stuff.
I'll let you know when i do LOL
In the picks is the butterflies for the carbs...they have a very blunt edge and the screws stick up and into the air stream.....details and details....
sorry for the crappy phone picks, but it gives you the idea....
sorta like the time i ported and polished my water pump...winter does have it's advantages !!!!

looks like a decent bevel to increase flow at WFO. So what exactly were you after on this boring time?

Re: Bored projects, when you really have nothing to do
basically making the intake drafting as smooth as possible.....nitpicking...... i'd like to make custom intake ram air tubes too...smooth and straight as possible...and redesign the airbox induction where the ram air tube enter. all for fun

Jake: You smoothed out the radius on the airbox, but the venturi affect/of the tapered portions of the discharge tubes tends to elude me at the moment. Maybe it is too early for my brain, help me out on that last taper strategy.

Re: Bored projects, when you really have nothing to do
i could have left it a straight cut and the air would do what it pleases as it hits the air filter(which is 2mm away from the exhaust of the tubes if I leave the filter in stock position)
If I use the second(new) location, then the air has a bit of a chance to dispurse as it fills the upper portion of the airbox....
Really I was just making it a finished look....either way for this purpose it prob won't make a hill o'beans difference...
The big effect I was going for was to channel the air better into the airbox. This I feel will happen.(no losses expected)
I am thinking of doing a v1.2 where there is 2-4 type plentum or such design...which i accidentally found university study material where they used my version of bike and re-engineered the intake system for doing a propane injection kit of sorts.....anywhoo, they did crazy advanced math to figure out length and sizes for optimal performance.

Re: Bored projects, when you really have nothing to do
I can visualise the flow of air being dispersed more so over the air filter now. Will any low pressure issues arise from this mod? and affect the CV and power? You did mention no power loss on paper, just asking. Nice to be able to review a University study using the same bike as what you have. Lucky bastid.

Re: Bored projects, when you really have nothing to do
I'm not really changing anything as far as pressure is concerned(or so I believe)....just giving the ram air a direct punch-through the air filter in v1.0...air filter being the biggest intake restrictor
...v1.1 may have an unfactored effect that could be good or bad....a quick testride will sort out what's what.
